After many major cities and literally THOUSANDS of gigs and session, it feels like Chicago was a lifetime ago, Boston was a distant dream, and Peoria is a scrapbook of memories that fly off in the wind as I chance them with a butterfly net. the early days of Austin around a decade ago feel like the “good old days” where today’s comforts were all new and exciting.
This Austin Chapter of my life has shown what is possible for a professional musician. Could I have had similar experience in Chicago or Boston? I’m not sure. I think it’s just… different.
What I do know is that @paigedechausse has been there with me the whole way through. As life does what it does… through the wild rides, the quiet nights, and the weighty disasters, Paige and I have been fighting the good fight.. bobbing and weaving…getting hit and coming back with new resilience every time.
This thanksgiving I want to get ahead of the week and say right now I am thankful for Paige. When I am down, sick, unsettled, unsure, sad, lonely, she is there to be what is necessary to bring me back. And because of that, the celebrations are so much more satisfying.
So… here’s to the beginning of another holiday season of god knows what.. knowing I’ll always get through with Paige ready to take on the mysteries with me.
